Injury and pain often prompt us to be more curious about how our body works and seek help. But pain can be a formidable obstacle to recovery when it overrides our curiosity and leads us down a road of reduced activity, restricted movement, and stress – and more pain. How can we escape the cycle? We learn more, and practice new ideas.

Introduction (15 minutes):
- Welcome and Introduction to Somatic Experiencing
- Brief Overview of the Science Behind Somatic Experiencing
- Introduction to Me and My Unique Blend of Expertise (BRIEF)
Session 1: Understanding the Science of Somatic Experiencing (30 minutes):
- The Body-Mind Connection:Explore the intricate relationship between emotional experiences and their manifestation in the body. Discuss the latest scientific findings on the impact of emotions on physical well-being.
- Neurobiology of Emotional Suppression:Delve into the neuroscience behind emotional suppression and its links to chronic pain. Understand how the nervous system responds to trauma and stress, contributing to physical discomfort.
- Introduction to Somatic Experiencing Principles:Break down the core principles of Somatic Experiencing. Highlight the role of body awareness, mindfulness, and gradual exposure in healing suppressed emotions.
Session 2: Practical Immersive Experiencing (60 minutes):
- Embodied Mindfulness Exercises:Guided mindfulness exercises to help participants reconnect with their bodies. Emphasis on breath awareness, grounding techniques, and fostering a sense of safety.
- Somatic Experiencing Techniques: I will demonstrates and guide participants through specific Somatic Experiencing exercises. Participants practice techniques designed to release tension, enhance body awareness, and promote emotional expression.
- Building Trust in Body Signals: Activities to help participants recognize and trust their body's signals. Encourage a non-judgmental approach to bodily sensations, fostering a sense of safety in exploring suppressed emotions.
Session 3: Applying Learnings at Home (15 minutes):
- Integration and Reflection:Reflect on the experiential exercises and insights gained during the workshop. Discuss the importance of continued practice for long-term benefits.
- Customized Home Practices: I will provide personalized recommendations for at-home practices. Participants will receive a follow up email with resource links to exercises used in class.
Closing and Q&A (20 minutes):
- Open the floor for questions and discussions.
- Share additional resources for further exploration
Ideally, Participants will leave the workshop equipped with a deeper understanding of the science behind Somatic Experiencing and a toolkit of practical exercises to continue their journey of exploring suppressed emotions, building trust in their body's signals, and understanding the roots of their chronic pain experiences. The only prerequisite for this workshop is the ability to safely get down to lie on a mat, and up again.
No one will be Forced to participate in any experience that feels Unsafe.
Participants are welcome to simply Observe and Learn if Participating is not appropriate for them in this moment.
